Charlotte is a native Swede and is the Executive Director of Silicon Vikings, a 30,000+ nonprofit headquartered in Silicon Valley since 1997 whose mission is to build a borderless community supporting innovation and technology entrepreneurship. Charlotte has a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School and a BA in Political Science & Economics from UC Berkeley. Charlotte has practiced business and immigration law for technology companies since 1998 specializing in helping foreign companies establish themselves in the US. Charlotte is Cofounder of apiNXT a nonprofit focused on breaking the bamboo ceiling for APIs through increasing advancement opportunities, leadership development and youth engagement; she is also a board member of APIA Public Affairs Association (APAPA), a nonprofit dedicated to empowerment of the API community through active engagement in civic and public affairs.
STANLEY KWONG: Professor Stanley Kwong of the University of San Francisco is a 30 years veteran of IBM and has over 10 years of executive education and higher education teaching experience. Professor Kwong is one of the leading experts on International Marketing Strategy, Chinese Corporate Branding, and Chinese investments in the USA. Dr. Kwong was quoted and interviewed by media such as Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, China Daily, CCTV, Swiss National Radio, etc on the subjects of China Branding and Chinese Oversea investments. Prior to joining University of San Francisco as a Professor in 2009, Dr. Stanley Kwong was one of IBM's top international marketing executives and had successfully managed a worldwide technical marketing program with operations in China, India, Europe and the United States. In 2004, Dr. Kwong was part of the IBM leadership team for the successful transfer of IBM PC Company to Lenovo of China. Stan is widely recognized for his knowledge on US-China business relations. Stan serves as the Strategic Advisor to the Bay Area Council as well as to ChinaSF. Stan was also part of California Governor Jerry Brown's Delegation to China.
PENNY CHEN: Penny is currently the Director, Tax at KPMG and at the China Center of Excellence, KPMG KLP. She is a Certified Tax Agent in China with 14 years of experience in providing advisory on China tax and business regulations. She specializes in international tax, M&A, and China corporate tax. She has extensive experience in providing tax planning and advisory services to listed companies and multinational conglomerates which invest substantially in the mainland China. In addition, she has also helped a lot of Chinese companies in investing overseas. Penny joined KPMG China in 2002. Since 2011, she has spent significant amount of time working in North America providing advisory on China taxation and business regulations for U.S. and Canada based multinational companies. She is now based in KPMG Silicon Valley office heading up the China tax team in the U.S..
HENRY FAN: Henry is the Co-founder and managing director of Crossvine Capital, a debt and and private equity fund and a new Private Equity funding platform for real estate development. The business focuses on bridge and equity financing, and has successfully invested and jointly developed high-end luxury residential homes, multi-unit development projects, hotels, and wineries in California. Henry is also a venture partner of Struck Capital, a new venture fund focusing on early-stage tech startups. In the last 12 months, Henry has completed 15 SPVs, co-managing with other local venture capital firms, with investment in companies in Internet, Mobile, VR/AR, AI, FinTech, Cloud and Clean Tech areas.
CHRISTINA HSIANG: Christina is the Founding Director of Startups Greater Asia, an organization connecting the startup and venture community in Silicon Valley with that of Greater Asia. Christina is also a Mandarin- and Russian-speaking Corporate Attorney at Carr & Ferrell LLP, a full-service law firm deeply committed to providing strategic and responsive corporate, venture capital, patent, and intellectual property law services. Having had hands-on experience working at an early-stage startup developing robotic car technology, Christina now advises entrepreneurs on effectively resolving startup legal and operational issues. Experienced in building business relations with diverse third-parties and executing projects in a lean, fast-paced, tech startup environment, Christina has been a speaker on/writes about the topics of startup legal strategies, startup growth, cross-border venture investment landscape, cross-border startup challenges and success stories, building hardware startups, and the future of connected mobility.
PATRICK LIANG: Patrick is an active angel investor based in Silicon Valley, professional investor and startup mentor. He is the now the CEO of Angel Plus Fund (Silicon Valley). Patrick has been working as a C level manager in several companies. He has strong interests in companies for agriculture, spinning, travel and project management. As a member of the first group of investors in SHENGMUHIGHTECH, and previous CEO of Silicon Valley Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs, Patrick has been working together and shares the vision with many other successful investment corporations. Over the past two years, he has carefully invested in TAB32, Mash5, ZoomSocial, Cocontest, Tripalink, Quickforce.
ETHAN SCHUR: Ethan is an inventor and futurologist, with a passion for advancing human progress through novel usages of IoT, Wearable, and AR/VR technologies. Ethan, along with team Grush, the Gaming Toothbrush, holds the title of "America's Greatest Maker" and is the winner of the Million Dollar Prize on the viral reality television competition, America's Greatest Makers. Ethan is the winner of the illustrious Lumiere Award for 3D Virtual Reality Technology, the TV innovation Award, and the US-China Startup Competition. Ethan and Team Grush make the Gaming Toothbrush for kids. Grush transforms the brushing chore into fun and interactive games using a motion sensing IoT toothbrush that connects via Bluetooth to a mobile device that runs fun and interactive brushing games, and uploads detailed brushing information to the cloud for tracking and analysis by parents and dentists. An engaging speaker, panelist, and moderator, Ethan has appeared on Forbes, CNN, TBS, and others. A graduate of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business Hardware Startup Accelerator, Ethan Schur is the co-author of several patents and papers, and is an accredited journalist with the International Federation of Journalists.
JINGYAN (SAM) WANG: Jingyuan Wang was a Silver Scholars from Yale University, He has also been identified as one of the 15 Harvard Young Leaders of the year. He was selected to study software and engineer at a State Key Laboratory in senior high school. During that period he studied at the lab, where his personal project won the first prize in the Beijing Science and Innovation Competition along with a number of other awards. Wang has also been interviewed by BTV (Beijing Media Network) for the project, named Remoter with Eyes. Wang started up quite a few businesses in different industries, such as ZWZ, Yicun International, Topline International, Crave Mad for Chicken and so forth. Wang has also helped many Chinese companies expand their markets in the States. The areas he has dealt with include investment, imports and exports, cross-border E-commerce, hospitality and social media. Wang also interned at Zpark Capital (an Angel fund), then he joined Silicon Valley Association of Connected Entrepreneurs (SVACE) as the New York Ambassador and KPMG Innovation Platform as an external partner. He planned and founded NewDo Venture in July, 2015. During the past year, NewDo venture has attracted more than 50 investment partners and more than 40 top tier advisors. Our advisors include both high profile entrepreneurs and business leaders, as well as leading technology professionals. As of Sept 2016, NewDo has invested in 15 startup companies and the rate of return has been doubled.
CHUANBO XU: Chuanbo is the CEO of Labway USA Corp. which is a Silicon Valley based subsidiary of the Chinese medical laboratory testing services company. Prior to this, he was leading clinical program design and execution at GRAIL, Inc., a newly formed spin-off from Illumina, for early detection of all solid tumors test development using blood circulating cell-free nucleic acids and other biomarkers. Prior to this, he has been heading the clinical and regulatory affairs department at Wako Diagnostics, Inc. - an IVD company specializing in liver cancer wholly owned by Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Before that, he was the Chief Business Officer at BioChain Services where he is responsible for developing and implementing business growth strategy in clinical diagnostics including in-licensing the colorectal cancer epigenomics test to China and obtained approval from the CFDA. He has also been employed in a number of leadership positions throughout the pharmaceuticals, medical device and diagnostics industry sectors at Abbott Vascular, CareDx, Perlegen Sciences, Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoWellcome (GSK), and Pioneer Hi-Bred International (DuPont). He has a Ph.D. in immunology and a Veterinary Medicine degree. Specific skills include: Clinical trial design, clinical operations, project management, regulatory affairs, molecular technology of genomics, proteomics, DNA sequencing and genotyping, bioinformatics, and product R&D processes. The therapeutic and medical device research areas he has involved include oncology, CVD, autoimmunity, metabolism and endocrinology, CNS, and infectious diseases.
